“We didn’t realise we were making memories, we just thought we were having fun.”

On Saturday 7th June 2025, the Former Pupils’ Guild of The Mary Erskine School welcomed back old friends and familiar faces for a joyful day of reconnection, nostalgia, and celebration.

From 10am, the corridors of MES echoed with laughter and stories as former pupils gathered over lunch. The warmth in the dining hall wasn’t just from the urns – it was from the hugs, the surprised exclamations of “You haven’t changed a bit!”, and the realisation that while years may pass, friendship doesn’t fade.

The optional school tours were a particular highlight, as guests wandered through classrooms and corridors that held decades of memories. Some rooms looked exactly the same; others had transformed – but all held the echoes of the long gone-chalk dust, giggles, and growing up.

At 12:30am, everyone gathered in the Assembly Hall for a heartwarming performance by the school choir. Emotions ran high as voices joined together for a nostalgic singalong of the School Song. (We’re proud to report that at least year group remembered every word!)

The archives proved a popular spot, with old class photos and yearbooks bringing forth equal parts laughter and cringing (“Was that really my hair?!”). Our Memory Tree blossomed with handwritten notes and shared memories – a beautiful testament to the lifelong impact of MES.

The day rounded off with a delicious lunch in the Dining Room – a room that felt simultaneously new and wonderfully familiar. Stories continued, laughter rang out, and cameras clicked away to capture a day we’ll all remember.

As many of you know, with the recent merger, this may be one of the last reunions held in this traditional format. That made it all the more meaningful to see so many former pupils come together – not just to look back, but to honour the connections that shaped us.

Whether you were celebrating a class anniversary or simply came along to reconnect, thank you for being part of it.

Until next time...
