On Saturday 6 June 2026, around 200 former pupils and guests returned to The Mary Erskine School at Ravelston for the Guild's final reunion, bringing together generations of Merchant Maidens to celebrate friendships, memories and a shared connection that spans decades.
The day began with registration in Mar Hall, where attendees were welcomed back to the school before enjoying the opportunity to reconnect with former classmates, friends and staff. Guests were also able to take part in guided tours of the school, visit displays of historical archives and memorabilia, and reflect on the rich history of The Mary Erskine School and the Guild itself.

Following a drinks reception and tours of the school, guests gathered for lunch and an afternoon of speeches, reminiscences and celebration. Many shared memories of their time at school, highlighting the lifelong friendships, opportunities and experiences that have remained with them long after leaving the school gates. Particular reflection was given to school uniforms, enduring friendships and the mischief of school days at Ravelston before the move to Queensferry Road.
The reunion was made even more special by the attendance of former pupils whose association with the school stretches across many decades, demonstrating the enduring strength of the Mary Erskine community. Former Heads and teachers, including Mrs Norma Rolls, Mrs Lesley Douglas and Mrs Kimberly Munro, were also welcomed back for the occasion. Messages of support were received from former Principal David Gray and Dr Iain Scott, who were unfortunately unable to attend in person.

As the final reunion organised by the Guild, the occasion carried particular significance. While the Guild's chapter is drawing to a close, the values, friendships and sense of belonging it has fostered will continue through future generations of former pupils.
We also took the opportunity to thank Ms Kirsty Nicholson, Head of The Mary Erskine School, ahead of her retirement in June 2026. In recognition of her support for both the School and the Guild, she was presented with a gift and welcomed as an Honorary President.

The Guild would like to thank everyone who attended, travelled long distances, shared memories and contributed to making the day such a memorable success. Special thanks are also extended to the staff and volunteers whose hard work behind the scenes ensured the event ran smoothly and provided a fitting celebration of the Guild's remarkable history.
